Mr. Haviland concentrates his practice in the area of complex commercial and class action litigation, including antitrust, consumer protection and product liability litigation. He has served as lead counsel, co-lead counsel or a member of a Plaintiff's Steering Committee ("PSC") in cases spanning a broad range of industries and legal concentrations. He has been voted by his peers a Pennsylvania "Super Lawyer" in 2004, 2005, and each year from 2009 through 2021 and a New Jersey "Super Lawyer" for 2006.

He received a B.A. from Rutgers College, Rutgers University in 1987, magna cum laude. He received a N.D. from the Villanova University School of Law in 1992. Mr. Haviland is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the Supreme Court of New Jersey, the United States District Courts for the District of New Jersey, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the Eastern District of Wisconsin, as well as the United States Courts of appeals for the First, Third, Fourth, Sixth and Ninth Circuits.

Mr. Haviland has been practicing in the area of complex commercial and class action litigation for more than three decades. He began his career in 1990 with the renowned class action litigation advocate and scholar, Herbert B. Newberg, the author of the seminal treatise, Newberg on Class Actions. Before co-founding Haviland Hughes, Mr. Haviland was a partner at a nationally recognized complex litigation/class action law firm, and headed the class action department of another nationally recognized litigation firm in Philadelphia.

Mr. Haviland has been involved in numerous class action trials and settlements resulting in multi-million and billion dollar awards. Mr. Haviland currently has had a leading role in numerous complex and class action litigations, including In re Wawa Data Breach Litigation, No. 19-6019 (E.D.Pa.), Erling v. RCI, Inc. et. al., Civil Action No. 2:18-cv-08841 (D.N.J.) and City of Rockford v. Mallinckrodt ARD, Inc., et. al, Case No. 3:17-cv-50107 (N.D. Ill.).
